Lent

Lent is the season of the Church Year that leads to Easter. It lasts for 7 Sundays and starts with Ash Wednesday. It is a sombre season marked by the colour purple. This reminds us that it is a time where serious things are happening to the Messiah -Jesus.
The stories we follow in worship are all leading us toward the cross.

During Lent it is traditional to spend time making room for Jesus and the spiritual practice of fasting may occur. Mid week services and bible studies are also common at this time. Families can be involved through out Lent by using some of the below resources to help them mark the days until Easter.

Pancake Day

The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is known as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day. Traditionally Pancakes are made to use up all the good food in the house before the time of fasting for Lent. This is a fun opportunity for households to gather together and explore their faith. Below is a resource for your household to consider as you feast on pancakes and consider the Lenten season ahead.
